A Peace of you too

Like music, art has always been a great expression on peace. So after our forays into music, as part of our 5th year celebrations – we are now deep diving into art. Walk into Shalom on the 27th & 28th of February and see Shalom wear a new interpretation of peace as Pushkar Thakur makes the walls of Shalom his canvas – LIVE.

Pushkar Thakur is an award winning designer and artist; he has exhibited his digital art at multiple venues both nationally and internationally. Self-taught and trained, his work is open to experimentation and versatility. His work is usually an abstract and psychedelic reflection of his experiences and perspectives.

Installation concept from the Artist:

This is a follow up and derivation of my previous installation “A Peace of You” at the 5th year celebration art event at Shalom.

Thematically both play with the same concept. Peace.

Conceptually both are experimental in the sense that they might or might not work. Which when looked at in terms of the theme makes it more realistic, peace might or might not be achieved.

Derived, where “A Peace of You” sought to create itself with no interference in it’s outcome, “A Peace of You Too” seeks to highlight that our coming together and cumulative effort can bring us to peace and/or the various concepts of peace. Through this I also wish to highlight that Peace as a concept exists differently for different people.

Like previously stated, the thought being that there is no perfect definition of peace. for some it may be a time of no war where war might bring peace to some. for others good music. sex for some, food for another. killing, might too bring peace.

Peace cannot be defined. It is a feeling.

The syringes represent each one of us. Injecting it represents our efforts to do away with negativity and highlight the positivity that gets lost within the mesh of our now daily life.
